I got tagged by Preppy Engineer to post 5 quirky things about me. Since I posted this a few weeks ago, I'll repost for all of you who missed it.
1. As the name of my blog implies, I still drink TaB. For those of you who are younger, TaB is a diet soft drink that came out in the 60's and was extremey popular in the 70's and early 80's. Diet Coke came along and knocked TaB off its throne.
2. I'm a very picky eater. I only eat certain brands of certain foods.
3. When I go on vacation, I would rather drive than fly. I have driven to Maine several times and to Toronto from Alabama. My BFF MAB have some really interesting stories about adventures we've had on the journeys.
4. I don't like fish or seafood of any kind. Don't even want to look at it. It makes me want to gag.
5. Even though I am very particular about my appearance, some of my clothes are several years old. I have a hard time finding pants and skirts that I like, so I just wear the old ones. I wear some skirts that are 15 years old. Believe it or not, they still look good.I tag whoever has not had a chance at this yet. I apologize for the formatting. I'm still working on it.

My coworker and I got railroaded into having breakfast and lunch brought in for two meeting in the boardroom tomorrow and Friday. I have to leave for work 30-45 minutes earlier, stop by Publix and get bagels, muffins, juice and diet soft drinks. It is for another department. I don't know why they couldn't handle it. This other department is going to be having more all day meetings. Their assistant is going to have to handle it after this week. She has a corporate credit card for her department. I have to pay cash and then get reimbursed. Since my immediate supervisor is the CFO, maybe I can get my reimbursement quicker. All I am supposed to do is reserve the boardroom and unlock the door. Of course, Queenie just sits at her desk and watches us pull our hair out over this. I told my coworker that I wanted us to out do the others. I am serving everything on silver trays. I will go up there and make sure that everything is replenished when it needs to be. I'm going to raise the bar.
I am so ready for the weekend. I don't have anything planned. I think it is supposed to storm all weekend. I think I may stay inside and catch up reading all of my magazines. I may venture out to Target and see what fun things that they have.
BTW, if any of you see me lurking too much on your blogs on Saturday, it's because I read my blogs from the store computer and I don't have everyone on my blogroll. I depend on some of your blogrolls to find the other blogs that I read. Thay may be my project for the weekend - to update my blogroll.

Today was a boring day. It is always slow in my area the last couple of days of the month. I stopped by Target on the way home from work. They had some of the new Madras that Tickled Pink & Green has been talking about. All they had were platters and buckets. I may go back Saturday so that I can get a better look.
I forgot to tell everyone what Queenie had on yesterday. I don't know what she was thinking. She had on a skirt that was brown with turquoise and cream circles on it, a brown tank top worn out over the skirt and a navy waistlength jacket from a pantsuit. Everyone was looking at her and shaking their head. I found out Friday that they are taking some of her duties away from her - all two of them. I don't know what she will be doing. She will be the local Market Executive's secretary, but she doesn't open his mail, answer his phone, type correspondance or schedule his appointments. I don't know how she stands to sit around and do nothing all day. I would feel guilty.

I went to Huntsville Saturday afternoon and ordered my Stephen Bonanno's. I know that the sale starts next week, but I needed to figure out what size I wear. I have very narrow feet. I usually wear a 6 1/2 or 7 narrow. I ended up with the 7 bottom and 6 1/2 top. I ordered the Palm Beach classic in Ermine/Sable. I also bought a St. Patty green Vineyard Vines polo.
I worked at the store until 2:00. The girl that relieved me came in with her 3 month old baby in his baby seat. We assumed that her mother was going to come by and pick him up in about 30 to 45 minutes. I talked to my sister a couple of times later in the evening. I assumed since my sister didn't mention it, the baby was gone. Then my sister called and asked if she came in with the baby. She said it was still there. A baby in a liquor store...that's like something out of "Sweet Home Alabama". The baby finally left at 8:30, only because the baby daddy's sister was in town and wanted to see him. She will have a talking to. I don't think this girl is working out. She never does any of the chores that she is told to do. She just sits there and works the cash register. I noticed that she plays solotaire on the computer. So, she does have some free time. Last week I went to Nashville on Saturday. She was 3 1/2 hours late to relieve my mother. She went to a goat sale that started at noon and was an hour away. She called my mother at 2:00 and said that she was still there. Didn't even apologize. What's wrong with people? She acts like she really needs the money.

Last night I worked at Relay for Life. It is such a good cause, plus my sister is on the committee. I always get teary-eyed when the survivors walk around the track. In our town, Relay for Life is like going to the fair. Different groups have tents and sell things to raise funds. One team had a China theme. A man gave rick-shaw rides to raise money. I thought that was cute. Our team sold BBQ sandwiches, popcorn and lemonade. One team sold fried Oreos. I have never heard of that. They dipped Oreos in pancake batter and deep fried them. They were really good. You know us Southerners, we love our fried food. The team also sold pinto beans, onions and cornbread. All Southerners, but me, like pintos. After all that eating, I got up and went to the Kiwanis pancake breakfast this morning. I never want to see food again...at least not until lunchtime. I'm hoping to make a trip to Huntsville this afternoon. I want to go to The Pink Pelican to order a pair of Stephen Bonanno's. I still haven't decided what color that I want. I'm leaning towards the Ermine/Sable. I want a pair that I can wear with a lot of stuff. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

My BFF MAB's father had a heart attack yesterday morning. He was supposed to have triple bypass surgery this morning, but it was postponed until tomorrow because of some enzyme in his blood. He is in very good hands and has an excellent cardiac surgeon. Birmingham has a nationaly renowned medical district. As a matter of fact, the medical industry is what keeps our economy going.
Today, even thought some executives were in town, I decided to dress a little casual. When I got to work, I noticed that everyone had decided the same thing.
I finally was able to settle my craving for Chick-Fil-A. I stopped on the way home from work and got a chicken strip salad. It was so good. I ate some of the chicken before I could get the salad dressed. Yum! My tummy is happy.
For those of you who watched "Women's Murder Club" back in the fall, there will be new episodes starting Tuesday.

Our CEO, along with other executives, were in town today. I don't know why, but when they are in town, I feel like Bridget Jones on a bad day. Nothing goes smooth. Because both sides of meetings were scheduling conference rooms, we had one meeting scheduled in 2 different conference rooms. We finally realized it when they were looking for each other. The head of security for the entire company was in town and was also on our floor today. I left my desk for a few minutes and when I returned I noticed on my desk: my elevator card, my keys to the 10th floor, money, a piece of jewelry and to top it off, a US District Court Grand Jury Subpoena (very, very confidential). I scrambled to clear my desk before he saw everything.
I don't get Star Jones Reynolds. She craves publicity and had the big over the top wedding that was paraded through the magazines. If you haven't heard, she's getting a divorce...and she wants her privacy. How long do you think that will last? I realize that she deserves her privacy, but she flaunts everything that she does.
Don't forget that the new episodes of "Ugly Betty" begin Thursday night.

I forgot to post last night. It doesn't matter because I didn't have too much to say. I came home, made vegetable soup and watched Greek and Gossip Girl. On Greek - I feel the same way that Casey does about Frannie. I think she is up to something. Last season, she was the evil queen and this season, she is so passive. On Gossip Girl, what's up with the girl named "Hazel"? I haven't met anyone under 70 whose name is Hazel. Oh well, I don't mean to make fun of anyone's name, but... That show is full of evil queens all vying for the same throne. I guess that's why it is so popular.
It was in the mid 80's today. I wore a linen skirt and a pair of sandals to work today. It felt so good, that I decided I'd wear a similar outfit tomorrow. I found out that our CEO is coming to town, so I have to dress nice tomorrow and Thursday. I've been able to wear casual attire for so long that I am running out of nice clothes to wear.
I went to Target this afternoon to see if they had any madras headbands this season. I struck out. They didn't even have any cute ones at all. I'll try back later in the season.

I went to Nashville on Saturday for a meeting. After the meeting I headed to the Mall at Green Hills. I went to Tiffany's to have my silver bracelets cleaned. I bought bath gel at Kiehl's, a red polo, some white sneaker socks and a navy headband at Lacoste, philosophy On a Clear Day night cream at Sephora, Rosemary Mint shampoo at Aveda and Clinique moisturizer at Macy's. I also bought the book "They Did it With Love" by Kate Morgenroth. This book was recommended by Tickled Pink and Green. At the suggestion of Preppy Engineer, I went to Gigi's Cupcakes and bought cupcakes. I bought 3 pink cupcakes and one devil's food. They were so good and rich. I recommend the place. I went to the First Resort, a Lilly store, but when I got there the building was completely empty with a "For Lease" sign in the window. They must have moved. I drove around the neighborhood but did not see any sign of the store. I did see a new J. McLaughlin, but I did not park and go in. I'll save that for the next trip. I did not get back to my mother's house until about 7:00. I was exhausted. Sunday was the same old, same old. After church, we went to lunch, then went to the store to bag ice. After that we went with my sister to do an appraisal and then back home. I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Thursday, 17 April 2008
Today I had to go to a funeral at 11:00. A friend's mother passed away. I thought it would probably last about 20-25 minutes. Afterwards, I had planned to run across the street to the mall and go to Chic-Fil-A. Preppy Pearl and Preppy Pink Crocodile had me craving Chic-Fil-A. The funeral lasted exactly one hour. I had to rush back to work. I decided I would go through Wendy's drive thru. I was about 30th in line. I got out of line and went on back to work. I ate a pack of Bob's and a Rice Krispie treat out of the machine. In case you don't know what Bob's are, it is what we from Northeast Alabama call peanut butter and crackers that come 6 to a pack. I think there used to be a brand called Bob's, so everyone just refers to them as Bob's. I decided since I had such a pitiful lunch I would get soup and a sandwich at Panera. Today they had Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice. That is my favorite of their soups. My boss was gone part of the afternoon, so I got caught up on my New York Post Online. I was about 3 days behind reading Cindy Adams and Liz Smith. Gotta get my trash every day.

Music City, USA
I have to go to Nashville, TN Saturday to a meeting. I am getting up early and driving from my mother's house. The meeting is from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. After a quick lunch with the attendees, I am hitting the mall. I think I'll go to The First Resort (a Lilly store), then to Green Hills Mall. I need to go to Tiffany's to have my silver bracelets cleaned. They have a new Lacoste store there, so I'll have to swing by. I'm also going to Kiehl's, Sephora, Crabtree & Evelyn, Brooks Brothers and the bookstore. I want to be able to leave Nashville by 4:00. Maybe I can do it. Does anyone that is familiar with the area have any more suggestions?

I was so lazy this weekend. I worked on the computer, did a few chores, read and watched TV. I did venture out yesterday for a little while. I went to TJ Maxx and got a set of Lilly pink seersucker cloth napkins. I can't wait to use them. I then went to Target to pick up a few things. I looked around for a little while but did not find anything that I could not live without.
Tonight I watched "Desparate Housewives". Katherine (Dana Dulaney) has to be one of the most evil people on TV. If I did what she is suspected of doing, I wouldn't be so arrogant. And then we find out that she slept with Susan's cousin when he was only 16. I just love that show. I hope everyone had a good weekend and I hope everyone has a good Monday.
PS: I finally figured out how to get my posts formatted the way that I want them. Yay me!

I've Been Tagged
I was tagged to list 6 unimportant things about myself by Pink, Green & Southern.
1. Sometimes when I'll cook something that I've really been wanting, and I will eat it for lunch and dinner everyday until it is gone. Sometimes it will last me almost all week. Most of the time I don't get tired of it.
2. I wear my watch all the time, except when I'm in the shower and when I wash my face.
3. Before I put magazines in the recycling, I go through them to make sure there are no articles, ads or pictures that I want to save. I cut things out and put it in "my files".
4. I have never liked the taste or smell of toothpaste. Sometimes I want to gag. I use Tom's of Maine Baking Soda Peppermint because it only has a slight hint of a taste.
5. I don't like fish or seafood of any kind...except fried shrimp, which I love. It has to be fried. My favorite place to eat fried shrimp is Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, FL (yes, I'm giving them a plug).
I tag anyone who hasn't been tagged yet.

There must be a new law in Alabama that we must have severe thunderstorms every Friday or Saturday. On the way home from work, the radio was talking about funnel clouds and possible tornadoes. I stopped at Publix and took my time. I felt safer in the grocery store than in rush hour traffic. As soon as I left the bottom fell out. I got soaked when I stopped to get something to eat. I'm home now. Safe and dry. There's nothing on television tonight so I guess I'll watch (you guessed it) "Murder, She Wrote". When all else fails, there's alway "Matlock" or "Murder, She Wrote". She carries a Coach purse just like the one I have only in a different color. Has anyone out there tried the Tory Burch ballet flats? They only come in medium width and I have narrow feet. They look like they run narrow. I looked at them last night at Gus Mayer, but I did not take the time to try them on.

Today when I went out to the elevator, the runner from our legal counsel was standing at the elevator talking on his cell phone for all the world to hear. He was complaining about his lack of promotion and he was tired of being looked down upon. HELLO! If you would groom better, get rid of those beads around your neck and act like you have a clue, you might get promoted... to maybe assistant head runner.
On my way home from work, I looked to the car at my right. The driver was this 60ish looking woman with a lot of gold charm bracelets....and big, and I mean biiiiggggg, dyed black hair. When she drove up, I noticed she was in a Cadillac, an old lady Cadillac. Like I said yesterday. I think I attract these people.

What is it about me that attracts people in weird outfits? Do they hunt me down or am I too observant? Today at work, I was going into the breakroom behind a woman that had on a nice grey skirt (maybe part of a suit), a burgandy and grey striped blouse (looked like Ralph Lauren)...and hot pink patent leather stilleto pumps, a.k.a. "hooker shoes". Then after she got her ice and water, she was looking for something on the counter. She picked up a cup lid and wiped it several times on the side of her hip. What was that for? She wiped a clean lid on the side of her dirty skirt. FYI - I have to confess that I am not perfect.

Saturday night my mother and I had been out to eat and were on our way home when her van ran over something in the road. Neither of us saw anything. Afterwards, we kept seeing brake lights. We turned around and went back and there was a dead deer in the road. We went back to our store and called the police to report it. While I was on the phone, my mother overheard a girl at the restaurant talking to her friend on her cell phone. When she hung up, she said, "My friends just hit a deer!" I guess that was the one that we ran over. It is really getting dangerous down here. Last year, my mother hit a deer about a block from where we were. This is in town, not out in the country. I've been having problems with a pit bull that lives in our building. The owner is always leaving it out unattended. I complained to the office and they said I either need to call animal control or find out which apartment it lives in. Last night when I got back, I saw the dog outside playing. I sat in my car for a few minutes before I got out. I saw it go into an apartment at the other end of the building. This morning when I called to let them know that I found the apartment, they said that I was too late, that the dog was already gone. It was so nice to come home tonight and not have to worry about the pit bull running towards me. I love dogs, but I am scared of this particular dog.

Yesterday it stormed most of the afternoon. As one thunderstorm would move out, another one would move in. I was able to safely make the trip to my mother's. We worked at the store last night. About 10:30, the power went out and stayed out for an hour. We think a transformer blew. We did not have that many people who wanted to buy something. We did have someone that got mad and said something under their breathe. When the power is out we can't wait on customers because 1. the alarm does not work, 2. the cash register does not work and 3. we only know the prices of a few things. We did wait on 2 customers that we know and trust, and we did know the price of the things that they bought. As soon as we decided to pack up and go home, the power came back on. What was so bad was that we had not checked up the register for the day. By the way, for all of you Non-southerners, in the South all verbs are followed by the word "up" as in "checked up the register" and "mopped up the floor". If you look outside in the middle of the day and the sky is dark, you say "It's coming up a storm".
One funny thing before I close. I think these people wait for me. Yesterday, as I was going to work. There was this woman in front of our building. She had on denim capri pants, a navy and light blue long sleeved t-shirt, Ray-bans (remember storm clouds) and LIME GREEN Crocs. She was singing and dancing like someone in a Lerner and Lowe musical. I guess she was happy.

I almost forgot. 20% Savings at Kate Spade Thursday, April 3 through Sunday, April 6. Promotional code: SHOPSPR08.
WHAT A DAY! It was a long day at work. Queenine huffed and puffed all day long. I think she may have had some work to do. A coworker and I agree that she gets half of her outfit right and then it goes downhill. Today she had on black slides, black pants, a cute top that was white with black and royal blue patterns that wrapped and tied in the back...and a black menswear style vest...and a black My Big Fat Greek Wedding Frump Queen cardigan. After work I went to a meeting. It is usually over around 7:00 to 7:10, but it was not over until 7:40. Then as I was leaving, the guard came and got me and told me that one of the members fell in the parking lot. She had already called 911. I went and stayed with the lady until the paramedics got there. She tripped over a curb and hit her head on the pavement. The paramedics were very attentive and nice to her. It was after 8:00 when they left to take her to the emergency room. On the way home I had to stop and get gasoline and something to eat. I finally got home at 8:35. I swallowed a Chic-Filet sandwich whole. A neighbor told me about a letter we received saying that our complex was switching cable companies. He said, "I guess we'll have to move". I am being optimistic. I am hoping it may be better. I now pay over $100 for cable and internet access and the cable is not all that good. I'm going to check it out. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I've been very good about eating my veggies this week. I love green peas, especially the frozen Lesuer baby green pea. I have eaten almost an entire bag this week. I also ate corn and potatoes. Carb city! Tomorrow night, I have a meeting. I think I'm going to stop by Panera and get a salad. Depending on my weight (I gained 2 pounds over the past 2 weeks), I may try this again next week. I have enjoyed my meals. Today, Queenie had on brown tights and white sneakers. Bless her heart. She also spent all day studying. She will receive her Associates degree in Finance Management next month. It's about time. She has been going to school for over 15 years. When she finished her first term of banking school, she had it put in the local paper (city of over 1 million). That's..so..sad... Again, Bless Her Heart.
Tuesday, 1 April 2008
Today, my coworker and I went up to the 10th floor several times and we never saw our visitor from yesterday. Maybe we scared him away. After work, I stopped by Barnes and Noble and bought two books by Celia Rivenbark, Bless Your Heart, Tramp and We're Just Like You, Only Prettier. They look like they are hysterical. I also bought Fat Free & Fatal by G. A. McKevitt. I just love Savannah Reid mysteries. If you like fun mysteries with a buxom Southern broad as a P.I., you'll love G. A. McKevitt's mysteries. I always picture Delta Burke playing Savannah Reid. Can't wait to get started reading these.
