What is it about me that attracts people in weird outfits? Do they hunt me down or am I too observant? Today at work, I was going into the breakroom behind a woman that had on a nice grey skirt (maybe part of a suit), a burgandy and grey striped blouse (looked like Ralph Lauren)...and hot pink patent leather stilleto pumps, a.k.a. "hooker shoes". Then after she got her ice and water, she was looking for something on the counter. She picked up a cup lid and wiped it several times on the side of her hip. What was that for? She wiped a clean lid on the side of her dirty skirt. FYI - I have to confess that I am not perfect.

Saturday night my mother and I had been out to eat and were on our way home when her van ran over something in the road. Neither of us saw anything. Afterwards, we kept seeing brake lights. We turned around and went back and there was a dead deer in the road. We went back to our store and called the police to report it. While I was on the phone, my mother overheard a girl at the restaurant talking to her friend on her cell phone. When she hung up, she said, "My friends just hit a deer!" I guess that was the one that we ran over. It is really getting dangerous down here. Last year, my mother hit a deer about a block from where we were. This is in town, not out in the country. I've been having problems with a pit bull that lives in our building. The owner is always leaving it out unattended. I complained to the office and they said I either need to call animal control or find out which apartment it lives in. Last night when I got back, I saw the dog outside playing. I sat in my car for a few minutes before I got out. I saw it go into an apartment at the other end of the building. This morning when I called to let them know that I found the apartment, they said that I was too late, that the dog was already gone. It was so nice to come home tonight and not have to worry about the pit bull running towards me. I love dogs, but I am scared of this particular dog.

Yesterday it stormed most of the afternoon. As one thunderstorm would move out, another one would move in. I was able to safely make the trip to my mother's. We worked at the store last night. About 10:30, the power went out and stayed out for an hour. We think a transformer blew. We did not have that many people who wanted to buy something. We did have someone that got mad and said something under their breathe. When the power is out we can't wait on customers because 1. the alarm does not work, 2. the cash register does not work and 3. we only know the prices of a few things. We did wait on 2 customers that we know and trust, and we did know the price of the things that they bought. As soon as we decided to pack up and go home, the power came back on. What was so bad was that we had not checked up the register for the day. By the way, for all of you Non-southerners, in the South all verbs are followed by the word "up" as in "checked up the register" and "mopped up the floor". If you look outside in the middle of the day and the sky is dark, you say "It's coming up a storm".

One funny thing before I close. I think these people wait for me. Yesterday, as I was going to work. There was this woman in front of our building. She had on denim capri pants, a navy and light blue long sleeved t-shirt, Ray-bans (remember storm clouds) and LIME GREEN Crocs. She was singing and dancing like someone in a Lerner and Lowe musical. I guess she was happy.

Kate Spade Savings

I almost forgot. 20% Savings at Kate Spade Thursday, April 3 through Sunday, April 6. Promotional code: SHOPSPR08.
WHAT A DAY! It was a long day at work. Queenine huffed and puffed all day long. I think she may have had some work to do. A coworker and I agree that she gets half of her outfit right and then it goes downhill. Today she had on black slides, black pants, a cute top that was white with black and royal blue patterns that wrapped and tied in the back...and a black menswear style vest...and a black My Big Fat Greek Wedding Frump Queen cardigan. After work I went to a meeting. It is usually over around 7:00 to 7:10, but it was not over until 7:40. Then as I was leaving, the guard came and got me and told me that one of the members fell in the parking lot. She had already called 911. I went and stayed with the lady until the paramedics got there. She tripped over a curb and hit her head on the pavement. The paramedics were very attentive and nice to her. It was after 8:00 when they left to take her to the emergency room. On the way home I had to stop and get gasoline and something to eat. I finally got home at 8:35. I swallowed a Chic-Filet sandwich whole. A neighbor told me about a letter we received saying that our complex was switching cable companies. He said, "I guess we'll have to move". I am being optimistic. I am hoping it may be better. I now pay over $100 for cable and internet access and the cable is not all that good. I'm going to check it out. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I've been very good about eating my veggies this week. I love green peas, especially the frozen Lesuer baby green pea. I have eaten almost an entire bag this week. I also ate corn and potatoes. Carb city! Tomorrow night, I have a meeting. I think I'm going to stop by Panera and get a salad. Depending on my weight (I gained 2 pounds over the past 2 weeks), I may try this again next week. I have enjoyed my meals. Today, Queenie had on brown tights and white sneakers. Bless her heart. She also spent all day studying. She will receive her Associates degree in Finance Management next month. It's about time. She has been going to school for over 15 years. When she finished her first term of banking school, she had it put in the local paper (city of over 1 million). That's..so..sad... Again, Bless Her Heart.

Today, my coworker and I went up to the 10th floor several times and we never saw our visitor from yesterday. Maybe we scared him away. After work, I stopped by Barnes and Noble and bought two books by Celia Rivenbark, Bless Your Heart, Tramp and We're Just Like You, Only Prettier. They look like they are hysterical. I also bought Fat Free & Fatal by G. A. McKevitt. I just love Savannah Reid mysteries. If you like fun mysteries with a buxom Southern broad as a P.I., you'll love G. A. McKevitt's mysteries. I always picture Delta Burke playing Savannah Reid. Can't wait to get started reading these.
