Do any of you eat McCann's Irish Oatmeal?  I've eaten it in restaurants and it is always delicious.  The flakes are always tender and fluffy.  When I make it at home, it has the texture of grits.  I wonder if I am doing something wrong when I cook it.  I add 1 part oatmeal (I buy the Quick & Easy) to 3 parts boiling water.  I cook it on low for 5-7 minutes.  Then I turn it on warm for a few minutes. When I try to quick cooking rolled oats, they are like paste.  If you have tried McCann's, how do you cook it?  I hate to stress over oatmeal.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Try not adding the oatmeal until the water is at full boil.

I always make my oatmeal with skim milk. I let it "soak" for about ten minutes, then use the microwave. It doesn't come out like wallpaper paste, and tastes nice and creamy.

I also add a little bit of salt and a teaspoon of maple syrup, but then that's just me...
